On Saturday, 17th September 2016, the joint venture of the Judicial Education Institute (JEI) and the OECS Bar Association was held in Saint Lucia at the Bay Gardens Beach Resort & Spa. The Symposium focused on the following presentations: “Without Fear or Favour: Judicial Independence”, “The Power Of The Purse and Inherent Separation of Powers In Small States In The 21st Century” and “The Psycho-Social Effects of Sexual Offences”. The facilitators were Ms. Tracey Robinson, of the University of the West Indies and Ms Ginelle Nelson, from the Ministry of Justice, Saint Lucia. The presentations were very well received by all. The JEI fully funded the participation of Ms. Nelson in the symposium. In addition, the JEI funded half of the cost of the coffee breaks for over 35 participants.
