His Lordship, the Hon. Justice Paul Anthony Webster [Ag.]
His Lordship, the Hon. Justice Paul Anthony Webster [Ag.] was born in St. Catherine, Jamaica. He received a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, Barbados, West Indies, in 1978 and a Legal Education Certificate from the Norman Manley Law School, Kingston, Jamaica, in 1980. Justice Webster was admitted to practise in the British Virgin Islands in 1980.
Prior to joining the bench Justice Webster worked in the Chambers of McWelling Todman, QC until 1990 when he established the firm of O’Neal Webster. He initially worked mainly in civil litigation and as the firm’s practice developed the bulk of his work was in the area of commercial litigation with a concentration on company law and corporate insolvency.
Between 2001- 2015 Justice Webster held several temporary appointments as a judge of the High Court and the Court of Appeal of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court.
Justice Webster was elevated to the rank of Queen’s Counsel in 2003.
In September 2015 Justice Webster was appointed as a judge of the Court of Appeal of The Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court.
Justice Webster is of the firm belief that one must give back to their profession and as such during his years of service at the private Bar in the British Virgin Islands he served two terms as president of the BVI Bar Association
Justice Webster also served as Chairman, BVI Social Security Board; President, Rotary Club of Road Town, Tortola, and sat on several boards of schools and statutory bodies.
He is a past member the International Insolvency Institute (INSOL); BVI Bar Association and Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECSC) Bar Association; the Insolvency Committee of the BVI Bar Association and BVI Legal Aid Board.
Justice Webster currently serves as chairman of the Chief Justice’s Insolvency Committee.
