ECSC E-LITIGATION PORTAL NOTICE
St. Kitts and Nevis
The E-Litigation Portal (the “Portal”) will be going live for St. Kitts and Nevis for the mandatory electronic filing ofall new matters filed in theCourt of Appeal and theCivil Division of the High Court from Friday, 20th September, 2019.
The Court office will conduct training for Practitioners and their support staff, on Tuesday 3rd September 2019 for Nevis and from 9 th -11th September 2019 for St. Kitts. The training is structured for persons to attend at least one full day session. You are asked to liaise with the Registrar early to secure a training spot.
From 20th September, 2019 there will be no manual filings accepted by the Court Office for any of the proceedings which are commenced on the Portal. Practitioners are encouraged to register on the Portal as soon as possible and make a payment to place funds into their firms’ escrow account in order to avoid any inconvenience when filing.
In order for law firms to file matters on the Portal the following must be done:
 Your law firm MUST be registered,
 User accounts for the legal practitioners and legal secretaries in your firm MUST be created, and
 Your law firm account MUST have sufficient funds to pay the necessary filing fees.
These three steps will usually take at least 1 to 2 business days to complete.
Creation of Law Firm on the Portal
In order to create your law firm on the Portal, the following information must be provided:
 Name of law firm
 Senior managing partner’s name or the name of the person who will be administering the firm’s information on the Portal along with their e-mail address and telephone number
 Business Address
 Electronic copy of Business/Company Certificate which clearly shows business registration number (where available)
Kindly submit the information requested above to firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible.
Once this information is obtained, a record of the law firm will be created in the Portal. This will allow legal practitioners to create their user accounts within the Portal and, where applicable, associate themselves with their law firms.
Registration of User Accounts on the Portal
In order to register on the Portal, legal practitioners and their support staff not yet registered on the portal would each need to provide at least the following:
 Law Firm Name
 Role in the Law Firm
 National ID, Passport # or Driver’s License #
 Electronic copy of National ID or Passport or Driver’s License
 Practicing Certificate # (where applicable).
Once your law firm has been registered on the Portal, please ensure that your law firms’ escrow account is topped up with funds as this is the only way that filing fee deductions will be made for filing through the Portal. Further, please remember to keep accounts sufficiently topped up as transfers may take a minimum of 2 days for processing.
