JUDGMENTS
This site provides Judgments (criminal and civil) of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court made at both the High Court and Court of Appeal levels, 1996 to the present.
To facilitate timely retrieval of information a search facility has been provided.
Searches can be initiated by using either the Basic Search or the Advanced Search:
Advanced Search:
Search using name of parties, name of judge, subject of Judgment, case number, etc. The drop-down lists provided enable you to narrow, and better define your search terms. See ‘Search Help’ provided, for additional information.Refining your Search
The more words you add the more your search term is refined.
For example a search for “appeal cases” will return a high number of results. Add “civil” to refine the search (i.e. “civil appeal cases”). The search can further be refined by adding “Saint Lucia” (i.e. “Saint Lucia civil appeal cases”). The refined query will return a smaller amount of the original documents returned for “appeal cases”.
Excluding Search Terms
Use + and - before your keywords to further narrow your search. + will return pages with the specified search term and – will return pages without the specified search term.
For example: "+damages -criminal" will match all the pages with "damages" but exclude "criminal", hence no document will be returned with “criminal damages”.
To find an exact match for a phrase, enter the phrase within quotation marks “witness for the prosecution” and click on "SEARCH".
To procure information with (+) or without (-) a specific phrase, put the +/- inside or outside the quotation marks: i.e. +"witness for the prosecution" or "+witness for the prosecution" will return pages with the phrase “witness for the prosecution”; and –“witness for the prosecution” or "-witness for the prosecution" will exclude pages with the phrase “witness for the prosecution”.
